Q: Why get an estate plan?
A: If you pass away without a trust, your beneficiaries will be put through probate which sometimes takes years and tens of thousands of dollars in unnecessary fees and expenses.
Q: What is the difference between a will and a trust?
A: A will gives directions on what to do with your stuff after you die (but doesn't avoid probate) while a trust protects your stuff from probate (but is limited by what you wrote at the time you wrote it, which is why a will and trust combo works best).
Q: Why do I need an advance healthcare directive or durable power of attorney if I already have a will and trust?
A: The AHD and DPA are unique instruments that give instructions on how you want things handled in case you get into a coma or incapacitated but not deceased. *Wills and Trusts only become effective upon death.
Q: How are your fees?
A: We strive to provide cost effective solutions for each individual, couple, or family based on their unique circumstances. We also welcome METLIFE and ARAG legal plan members through their employer that pay for much of our services.
